134 Lürssen Superyacht Deep Blue Delivered

The 134m superyacht Deep Blue has been delivered, marking the latest milestone for one of the most significant yachts completed by the German shipyard in recent years.

Built by Lürssen with naval architecture handled in-house by Lurssen and both interior and exterior design by Winch Design, Alnanha stands out not only for her scale but for the detail packed into her 9,000GT platform. She is now under way, seen transiting the Weser River past Bremerhaven after departing Lürssen’s Bremen yard, en route to Poole, UK.

A Landmark Delivery

Deep Blue was officially launched in June 2025 at the builder’s Bremen facility, timed to coincide with Lürssen’s 150th anniversary celebrations. The yacht was widely rumored to be named Alnanha, though she has since been seen bearing the name Deep Blue on her hull. Following outfitting and sea trials in the North Sea, she has now been handed over to her owner. At 134.2 meters in length and nearly 20 meters in beam, she stands among the most voluminous superyachts ever built, with a gross tonnage of 9,000GT.

Her sheer size secures her 24th place in the global Top 100 yachts ranked by length, while her tonnage propels her higher to 20th place in YachtBuyer’s YB100 index, which ranks the world's biggest yachts by true internal volume. This distinction underscores Deep Blue’s capacity to deliver not just scale, but substantial interior space and functionality.

Deep Blue's Exterior Design and Distinctive Profile

Deep Blue’s design layers six expansive decks in sweeping curves that taper toward the bow, creating a sculptural profile that reads as both aerodynamic and commanding. The yacht’s unusual color scheme reverses convention, with a white hull set beneath a metallic blue superstructure - a top-weighted look rarely seen on yachts at this scale.

New imagery also brings greater clarity to her aft deck arrangement, where the infinity pool now reveals a defined waterfall feature cascading from the deck above into the basin below, adding movement and a stronger visual focal point to the stern.

The superstructure’s wraparound dark glazing enhances her streamlined presence, while a black mast crowns the upper deck with integrated domes and navigation equipment. At the bow, a pronounced sculpted bowsprit extends her profile, a design choice that may have been intended to optimize her placement in global rankings.

Outdoor Lifestyle and Amenities

A central feature of Deep Blue’s exterior is the cascading aft deck arrangement, which provides multiple outdoor living zones across several levels. The upper aft deck hosts a sweeping, curved infinity pool, framed by broad sun loungers with elevated views of the water. Below, the large open beach club on the lower deck connects directly to the sea, creating a generous waterside retreat.

Forward, the uncluttered foredeck is designed for helicopter operations, offering a private and direct mode of guest arrival. Throughout the motor yacht, wide walk-around decks ensure fluid movement between her exterior spaces.

Beneath her sculpted exterior, Deep Blue is powered by a modern diesel-electric propulsion system. Eight MTU 16V 2000 M72 engines drive four electric motors connected to twin azimuth thrusters. The system delivers a total installed power of 15,664hp (11,520kW), offering both efficiency and maneuverability. This setup reduces vibration and enhances comfort at sea, reflecting Lürssen’s ongoing focus on advanced engineering in the large-yacht sector.

Lürssen’s Order Book: A Pipeline of Large-Scale Projects

According to YachtBuyer Market Watch, the world's largest yacht database, Lurssen currently has 13 yachts either in build or on order. This includes another YB 100 entrant, the 10,500GT Project Defy.

Alongside it is the 114.2m Nausicaä (ex Project Cosmos), a highly unconventional Marc Newson design due for delivery in 2026, with 6,300GT, visor-like glazing, a domed glass structure, and methanol fuel cell technology aimed at lower-emission operation. Also nearing completion is the 117m Boardwalk, another 2026 delivery with a more structured profile by Frank Woll Design and interiors by Amy Halffman Designs, featuring long horizontal glazing bands, dual helipads, and multiple pool zones across a 5,350GT platform.

Now delivered, Deep Blue enters active service as one of Lürssen’s most substantial and closely watched recent builds.
