Moonen Yachts Launches 37m Ad Astra, the Seventh 122 Martinique Superyacht

Moonen Yachts has launched and christened the seventh hull in its 122 Martinique series.

The 37.4-meter yacht, now launched under her new name, Ad Astra, continues the series’ reputation for proven engineering while carrying a set of custom details inspired by her owner’s lifestyle.

A Personal Vision Realised

The yacht departs from her predecessors in several visible and subtle ways. Most striking is her orange waterline, a distinctive detail chosen by the owner to lend the yacht immediate recognition. A Jacuzzi has also been integrated into the deck plan, underlining the emphasis on relaxed outdoor living. These features reflect an approach in which the Martinique platform provides structure, but owners are encouraged to shape each hull into something uniquely their own.

Each new build reflects the strength of the platform while giving space for owners to make their yacht truly their own. With her striking orange waterline and bespoke lifestyle features, Ad Astra is a perfect example of this balance.

Design and Engineering Collaboration

The Martinique series has become a signature line for Moonen, bringing together established Dutch designers. Naval architecture is by Diana Yacht Design, exterior design by René van der Velden, and interiors by Hollander Yacht Design. For Ad Astra, the Hollander team worked closely with the owner to introduce specific elements into the yacht’s décor, executed by Moonen’s in-house craftsmen.

The motor yacht is the second Martinique project to carry Hollander’s interior signature. Their work on Ad Astra builds on the studio’s ability to deliver layouts that balance openness with privacy, using modern lines without sacrificing warmth. Across the Martinique line, exterior styling by van der Velden has maintained a timeless character, while Diana Yacht Design’s naval work gives the hulls proven efficiency at sea.

Project Manager Ian Vermoen described the build as rewarding from start to finish. “Working with the owner to bring their vision to life has been incredibly rewarding, and I’m proud of the craftsmanship and dedication our team has shown delivering this unique yacht. Seeing her christened and launched is a moment of celebration for all involved.”

Interior Layout and Guest Spaces

The superyacht carries accommodation for 10 guests across five cabins. The layout includes a full-beam master suite forward on the main deck, two VIP suites, and two twin cabins on the lower deck.

The addition of a Jacuzzi complements the yacht’s social areas, creating space for relaxed gatherings at anchor. The flexible arrangement of deck furniture and shaded options gives the owner scope to transition easily between family time, entertaining, and quieter moments at sea.

Commissioning Journey

Matthew Stone, IYC’s Managing Partner California and Sales Consultant, represented Moonen as global sales representative during the build process. He described how the commissioning journey developed:

“Initially, the owner considered larger yachts and explored multiple shipyards and brokerage options. However, the discussions consistently returned to Moonen, thanks to its exceptional quality, large volume, and the impressive flexibility in customising technical modifications. This collaboration also enabled us to work closely with the fantastic interior team at Hollander Yacht Design to create a tailored design that met the client’s specific needs.”

Stone added that the project demonstrated how the Martinique series can attract owners who might otherwise be drawn to larger yachts, offering comparable comfort and capability within a more manageable size and tonnage.

Sea Trials and Delivery

Following her launch in September, Ad Astra will enter a program of sea trials to test performance and systems ahead of delivery. Once complete, she will depart the Netherlands bound for the Caribbean. Her maiden season is expected to mix private cruising with select charter use, bringing the yacht’s design philosophy into active service in warm-water settings.

The Martinique 122 Series in Context

Ad Astra is the seventh Martinique to leave Moonen’s facilities. Since its introduction, the series has become central to the Dutch yard’s offerings in the 35-40 meter segment. The formula rests on a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, giving the platform strength, efficiency, and space for customization. The line has also proven attractive to international clients, with deliveries made to Europe, Australia, and North America.

The continuation of the series signals stability and a clear response to market demand. Each launch builds on an established platform while incorporating personal elements for the commissioning owner. With Ad Astra, the addition of distinctive styling choices and lifestyle features demonstrates how the Martinique can adapt to varied briefs without losing its underlying character.

From the Martinique 122 series, Moonen are also expecting the launch of the Martinique 08 Yacht, the eighth hull of the Martinique 122 series. The Moonen 122 Martinique YN206 is listed for sale on YachtBuyer and is currently asking €25,500,000
