RMK Yachts Unveils 55m Arcane Era and Arcane Nova Superyacht Concepts

Two concepts introduce a new Arcane design direction

Named after RMK Yachts' "The Arcane Edge" motto, the 55m Arcane Era and Arcane Nova explore two approaches to the builder's future design language, with Espen Oeino International responsible for the concept, general arrangement and exterior styling. Arcane Era is the more traditional of the pair in terms of its arrangement, placing the bridge on the sundeck and incorporating details including a distinctive clamshell form around the owner's deck. Arcane Nova takes the concept further, introducing what RMK describes as a new design philosophy with a more forward-looking interpretation of familiar yacht forms.

Outdoor living is central to both motor yacht concepts, with Giorgio Cassetta responsible for the exterior deck design as well as the interiors. The aft Piazza reinterprets the conventional beach club as a 20m-long, 180-square-metre indoor-outdoor area, while the bow incorporates the forward-facing Piazzetta lounge and alfresco space. A panoramic Love Nest terrace is also included, alongside the 35m-long RMK Jumbo Deck, which provides 190 square metres of outdoor space. On Arcane Nova, a more radical arrangement positions the wheelhouse forward, freeing additional space for what designer Espen Oeino describes as the largest sundeck in its class.

Giorgio Cassetta's interior design forms part of a general arrangement developed to strengthen connections between interior and exterior areas while providing protection from direct sunlight and changing weather conditions. One example is found on the upper deck, where an exterior area forward of the owner's cabin connects directly with an interior lounge, creating a continuous living area intended to remain practical both at anchor and alongside in port. RMK Yachts has not yet released detailed information on the accommodation arrangement, interior materials or cabin configuration.

Both sub-500GT concepts have been developed around the Volvo Penta IPS Professional Platform, with its compact aft installation playing a role in determining the new yachts' general arrangements and freeing volume below deck. Arcane Era is based around an ICE-powered configuration, while Arcane Nova has been designed around a hybrid architecture. RMK says both hybrid and ICE configurations can be offered for future vessels, allowing the propulsion architecture to be selected according to an owner's intended operational profile.

The Arcane concepts join a growing portfolio at RMK Yachts, which also includes the 58m Project Orca, currently taking shape at the Turkish shipyard. Designed by Lagaria Yacht Design, with naval architecture by RMK Yachts, the 1,000GT project features a steel hull and superstructure, accommodation for 12 guests across six cabins and a 5,000-nautical-mile range at 12 knots. Exterior features include a pool on the main deck aft, fold-down bulwarks and cascading aft terraces designed to strengthen the connection with the water.
