The footage follows her recent departure from Hamburg and confirms that the Lurssen yacht has entered the final testing phase ahead of her expected 2026 delivery.
O3 Begins Formal Sea Trials in Germany
The video shows O3 cruising along a broad, wintry waterway, with snow-lined banks and light surface ice visible in several shots. Conditions appear calm, with the yacht maintaining steady forward speed while being tracked from multiple angles, including bow-on, abeam, and overhead drone views.
As is standard at this stage, sea trials are expected to focus on propulsion performance, maneuverability, stabilizer systems, and onboard technical validation prior to handover.
Design Details Captured on Film
While O3 has been photographed previously, the moving footage offers a more complete understanding of her scale and configuration.
Her inverted, axe-style bow remains the defining visual feature, presenting a vertical, commercial-inspired stance when viewed head-on. The grey hull contrasts with a forward-positioned white superstructure, reinforcing the motor yacht’s purposeful profile. Horizontal bands of glazing run across multiple deck levels, emphasizing her tiered arrangement.
The overhead sequence provides the clearest view yet of the aft helideck, a major addition following the project’s resale during construction. Marked with a prominent “H,” the helipad occupies a substantial portion of the upper aft deck and sits above a raised structural platform that has significantly influenced the yacht’s final silhouette.
A Complex Build Timeline
O3 was first announced in 2017 and originally sold in 2018 through Moran Yacht & Ship. Construction began at Lürssen’s Peene-Werft facility in Wolgast before the hull was transferred to Hamburg in 2022 for outfitting and further modification. During the build, the explorer yacht changed ownership, leading to reported design revisions and exterior reworking. Occam Marine is understood to have assumed oversight during the later construction stages.
Naval architecture and the original exterior concept were developed by Salt Ship Design, with subsequent exterior refinement by Espen Øino. Interior design is credited to CG Design, replacing an earlier concept by Adam Lay. No interior imagery has been released.
The yacht is understood to span five decks with a gross tonnage of approximately 6,300 GT, placing her among the highest-volume yachts in her size bracket. Accommodation is expected for up to 20 guests across 10 suites, supported by a crew of around 30.
Ice-Class Platform with High Output Power
The superyacht features an ice-classed steel hull with an aluminum superstructure, a reported 17.5m beam, and a 4.5m draft. Propulsion is understood to come from three Wärtsilä 9L20 diesel engines, delivering a combined output in excess of 8,000hp. Top speed is expected to reach approximately 24 knots.
The platform has been described as expedition-oriented, incorporating heli operations, significant storage capacity, and long-range cruising capability alongside guest amenities such as a fold-out beach club, aft deck pool, spa facilities, and multiple alfresco lounges.
A High-Volume Addition to Lürssen’s Portfolio
At 110m, O3 will enter the upper tier of the global superyacht fleet upon delivery, a bracket where scale, onboard infrastructure, and crew requirements increase markedly. With an internal volume reported at around 6,300 GT, she is expected to place strongly within YachtBuyer’s YB100 ranking, which measures yachts by true internal volume rather than length alone. She will sit above the 119m superyacht A built by Blohm+Voss.
With sea trials now underway and documented on video, O3 is firmly in the final phase before delivery, bringing one of Lürssen’s most closely followed projects closer to completion.
