The superyacht was built by German shipyard Lürssen, with exterior styling by Salt Ship Design and Espen Øino, interiors by CG Design and naval architecture by Salt Ship Design. Built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, O3 accommodates up to 20 guests.
Explorer styling defines the yacht's distinctive profile
Previously known as Project Shackleton during construction, O3 has been developed as a large-scale expedition yacht with a profile that reflects her explorer credentials. The yacht features substantial volume, expansive exterior decks and a commanding presence on the water. Measuring 110 metres in length, O3 joins a select group of explorer yachts exceeding the 100-metre mark.
Expansive deck spaces support life on board
The motor yacht's exterior layout is centred around generous outdoor living areas distributed across five decks. Large open spaces provide room for relaxation, socialising and enjoying views from a variety of vantage points around the yacht. A helipad forms part of the overall arrangement, while the yacht's substantial scale allows for extensive guest amenities and flexible outdoor spaces throughout the design.
Accommodation for 20 guests across a highly customised interior
Inside, the boat accommodates up to 20 guests in 10 cabins, with interiors designed around extended periods of life on board. While much of the interior remains private, the yacht's amenities point to a strong focus on wellness, relaxation and guest comfort. A dedicated spa area incorporates a steam room and massage facilities, complemented by a swimming pool, jacuzzi and beach club that strengthen the connection to the water. Elsewhere, an observation lounge provides elevated views during cruising, while a dance floor, tender garage and dedicated medical suite reflect the yacht's balance of luxury living and practical functionality. An elevator links the decks throughout the yacht, ensuring easy access to the extensive guest spaces spread across her considerable volume.
Steel construction and proven engineering underpin the platform
Built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, O3 reflects Lürssen's experience in the construction of large custom superyachts. The yacht is powered by three Wärtsilä 9L20 diesel engines and has a reported top speed of 24 knots and a combined output of 8,000hp. Her substantial dimensions and displacement place her among the largest explorer yachts currently afloat, reinforcing her position within the upper tier of the global superyacht fleet.
O3 set to join YachtBuyer's YB100 ranking
Following delivery, O3 will enter YachtBuyer's YB100 ranking, a measure of the world's largest yachts based on internal volume rather than length overall. The ranking uses gross tonnage to provide a more accurate reflection of a yacht's true size and onboard space. Based on currently available figures, O3 is expected to rank below the 6,300GT, 114.2m Lürssen superyacht Nausicaä, which occupies position 35 in the YB100, highlighting the substantial volume achieved within her explorer yacht platform.
Lürssen continues to expand its fleet of landmark superyachts
According to YachtBuyer MarketWatch, the largest yacht database in the world, Lürssen continues to maintain one of the industry's most active custom superyacht order books. Alongside O3, the builder is responsible for some of the world's most recognisable yachts, including the 142m superyacht Dragonfly, delivered in 2024 with exterior design by German Frers and interiors by Nauta Yachts.
