The move marks a major milestone for both the yacht and the shipyard, with the build now progressing through the next stage ahead of a scheduled 2027 delivery to a European client.
Construction on the yacht began in 2022, with the project initially announced as a 70m platform before evolving to a final length of just over 73.8m. Now emerging from the construction shed for the first time, the Amer 74 Steel also becomes one of the largest yachts ever built in Pisa, underscoring the scale of the project and the capabilities of the new production site.
A flagship build at a new Pisa facility
The transfer sees the Amer 74 Steel arrive at Amer Yachts’ newly established Pisa Navicelli yard, which will serve as the production base for the Amer Steel series. The range is intended to support builds from around 40m through to 70m-plus, positioning the facility for larger displacement projects than those historically associated with the brand.
In a statement shared alongside the move, the shipyard described the transfer as a key moment for the program, noting that the megayacht is the largest Amer built to date. While an accompanying social media post referenced a 2026 delivery, the shipyard’s latest guidance places handover in 2027, consistent with the yacht’s current outfitting schedule.
Structural and styling foundations
The Amer 74 Steel features a steel hull with an aluminium superstructure and is being built under RINA Commercial Classification with Comfort Class notation. Naval architecture and engineering have been developed by Optima Design, working closely with Amer Yachts’ in-house technical team.
Exterior styling has been created in collaboration with Italian designer Antonio Luxardo, resulting in a contemporary profile defined by clean surfaces and extensive glazing across five decks. Full-height windows feature prominently throughout the superstructure, shaping both the yacht’s visual identity and the experience inside.
At nearly 74m, the Amer 74 Steel sits firmly within the megayacht bracket, a size range where operational scale, crew structure, and onboard systems change significantly. For a broader breakdown of how yachts are typically categorized as superyachts, megayachts, or gigayachts, see YachtBuyer’s size guide.
The motor yacht also adopts a full displacement platform, with the hull form developed to prioritize efficiency and steady performance for long-range cruising.
Terraced decks and sea-level leisure spaces
Outdoor areas are a central feature of the Amer 74 Steel’s layout. With a gross tonnage of 1,620 GT, nearly 1,000 square meters of exterior space on board the yacht have been allocated to open-air use, arranged in a terraced configuration that steps progressively toward the water.
A large aft platform sits close to the waterline, feeding directly into a 110-square-meter beach club. This space is framed by two shell doors to port and starboard that open outward to span approximately 13 meters across the stern. When deployed, the arrangement creates a wide sea-level terrace with direct access to the water, reinforcing the yacht’s focus on relaxed outdoor use.
Upper deck areas are arranged with sunbeds, lounge zones, and pool features, though specific details on spa or water features have not yet been released. Circulation between decks has been designed to maintain clear sightlines and ease of movement for both guests and crew.
The Amer 74 Steel’s garage is sized to carry a 10.5m tender, along with sea scooters and a full inventory of water toys. Storage and launch systems have been designed to support frequent use, particularly in conjunction with the large beach club and aft platform.
Light-filled social spaces
Inside, the Amer 74 Steel continues the emphasis on light and openness. The main deck saloon stretches approximately 15 meters in length and is configured as a single open-plan space. Full-height windows on both sides bring in uninterrupted views and natural light, reducing the visual separation between interior and exterior areas.
Above, a glass-enclosed upper deck lounge provides a more elevated social space, with a 270-degree panoramic view opening aft. The extensive glazing here mirrors the main deck arrangement, reinforcing continuity between decks while giving guests multiple vantage points over the surrounding seascape.
Vertical circulation is handled by a fully glass guest elevator serving four decks. Positioned along the starboard side, the lift provides sea views as it moves between levels. A separate crew elevator connects all six decks, from the tank deck through to the sundeck, supporting efficient onboard operations and discreet service.
The yacht is configured to accommodate up to 14 guests in seven staterooms, each benefiting from large windows positioned close to the waterline. Forward on the same deck, the owner’s suite spans approximately 75 square meters. The space includes two private side balconies, creating an additional layer of separation from the guest areas while extending the suite outward.
Amer Yachts’ broader order book
According to YachtBuyer MarketWatch, the world's largest yacht database, Amer currently has 8 yachts either in build or on order, spanning its performance-led production models and a growing portfolio of larger custom projects. Among these is the 41.45m expedition yacht Even Further, a fully custom steel displacement build scheduled for delivery in 2026. Designed inside and out by Luiz de Basto Designs, with naval architecture by Optima Design, the yacht prioritizes long-range capability and practical cruising features.
Highlights include a high-bow explorer hull, a touch-and-go foredeck helipad, heavy-duty tender cranes, and a 4,500-nautical-mile range. The project has already received industry recognition, earning a finalist spot at the Boat International Design & Innovation Awards 2026 and a special commendation at the World Yachts Trophies 2025.
With the first Amer 74 Steel yacht now in outfitting, attention will turn to interior installation, systems integration, and final detailing. As work progresses at the Pisa Navicelli facility, the Amer 74 Steel stands as a clear statement of intent from Amer Yachts, both in terms of scale and the direction of its future steel-built fleet.
