Amer 42 Explorer Yacht Even Further Launched Following Long-Range Sea Trials

Italian shipyard Amer Yachts has launched the 42m explorer yacht Even Further, signaling an important milestone as the builder expands into fully custom long-range superyachts.

Previously known as the Amer Steel Explorer 41, Even Further has already completed initial sea trials, where she demonstrated fuel consumption of just 60 liters per hour while cruising at 9.5 knots in Eco Mode. According to the shipyard, the results exceeded the performance targets established during the project's development.

Designed for Global Voyages

Designed inside and out by Luiz de Basto Designs, with naval architecture by Optima Design, Even Further was conceived for an experienced repeat owner who prioritized functionality and extended cruising capability over conventional luxury features.

Built with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure to Ice Class standards, the explorer yacht is intended for remote cruising while maintaining a relatively shallow draft for greater operational flexibility. Following sea trials, Amer says the 440 gross-ton yacht is capable of a transoceanic range of approximately 8,900 nautical miles in Eco Mode from her 56,300-liter fuel capacity, positioning her among the most efficient explorer yachts of her size.

This exceptional result is the outcome of a long and relentless pursuit of improved performance and reduced fuel consumption and emission... we started in the late 1980s and, well before these topics became widely discussed, chose a path that today rewards us for the great sacrifices and initial skepticism we encountered."

Barbara Amerio, CEO of Amer Yachts, said the figures represent the culmination of decades of work focused on improving efficiency.

Designed Around the Owner's Vision

Rather than following the increasingly common expedition yacht formula, Even Further was developed around several owner-requested features intended to maximize practicality during extended voyages. A prominent high bow houses a touch-and-go helipad that can also serve as an entertainment area, while the foredeck is arranged to accommodate tenders and personal watercraft.

Perhaps the most distinctive feature is the pair of heavy-duty cranes integrated into the superstructure. Each crane can lift up to 8,000 kilograms while remaining largely concealed within the superyacht's profile, allowing tenders to be launched and recovered without compromising exterior lines.

Instead of incorporating a traditional beach club, the owner opted for an enlarged 17-meter flybridge, creating substantially more outdoor living space on the upper deck while providing greater privacy when moored stern-to.

A Family-Oriented Interior

Although the full interior has yet to be revealed, Luiz de Basto has designed the yacht around family cruising rather than formal entertaining. Accommodation is arranged for up to 10 guests in five cabins, supported by quarters for eight crew. The main deck centers around an open salon and dining area connected to the exterior by large sliding glass doors, while a glass staircase links all four decks and introduces additional natural light throughout the yacht.

Forward, the bridge features a distinctive floor-to-ceiling angled windshield providing approximately 270 degrees of visibility, with a suspended helm console designed around the motor yacht's advanced navigation systems.

Amer says Even Further's efficiency stems from more than 12 years of development with Volvo Penta, adapting IPS pod propulsion for a large steel explorer yacht. Powered by four Volvo Penta D13 engines connected to twin IPS40 pod drives, she cruises at 14 knots, reaches a top speed of 16.3 knots, and uses just two engines in Eco Mode to reduce fuel consumption on long passages.

More Large Projects on the Horizon

The launch of Even Further comes during a busy period for Amer Yachts as the Italian builder continues expanding beyond its established composite range. Last week, the company unveiled the new 42-meter all-aluminum Amer 42A yacht alongside three new composite models - the Amer 9, the Amer 10 and Amer 12 - outlining the next stage of its product strategy.

According to YachtBuyer MarketWatch, the largest yacht database in the world, Amer currently has eight yachts either in build or on order. Alongside Even Further, the order book is led by the 74m flagship Vertige, the first Amer 74 Steel, which recently entered outfitting ahead of her scheduled 2027 delivery.

Together, these projects demonstrate the yard's growing emphasis on larger fully custom yachts while continuing development across its production model lineup, signaling an increasingly diverse portfolio spanning composite, aluminum and steel construction.
