The 18.9m aluminum powercat, launched in May 2026 as the first catamaran built by Bering Yachts, traveled from the Turkish builder's Antalya base to the Cannes Yachting Festival before beginning the return journey to Turkey. Bering says the yacht has now completed all sea trials, with the passages giving the yard an extended opportunity to assess the BC60 under real cruising conditions.
BC60 Put to Work Across the Mediterranean
Rather than moving directly from trials to a static show appearance, the first BC60 reached Cannes under her own power from Antalya. Updates published during the passage tracked the catamaran through the Mediterranean, including a transit of the Corinth Canal on the journey west from Greece.
Following her arrival on the French Riviera, the BC60 was presented at the 2026 Cannes Yachting Festival alongside the Bering 88. The yard reported strong visitor interest in the catamaran, particularly around its layout, interior volume, ceiling heights and ergonomics.
Bering has also said its team found onboard comfort during the passages to be in line with the design brief. The return journey to Turkey provides another extended test of the platform away from short-duration trial conditions, with further Mediterranean cruising planned once the yacht reaches home waters. The first hull's voyage is particularly relevant given the BC60's intended role. Bering developed the model around long periods aboard, shallow-water access and extended cruising rather than high-speed performance.
Aluminum Construction and More Than 3,000nm of Range
Measuring 18.9m overall with an 8.6m beam, the BC60 is built entirely in aluminum and uses a full-displacement twin-hull platform. Full-load displacement is listed at 62.8 tonnes, while the draft is just 1.3m at half fuel load.
Power comes from two 450hp Volvo Penta D8 engines. Bering quotes a 10-knot cruising speed and a maximum speed of 14 knots at half load, with a range of more than 3,000 nautical miles when traveling at seven knots. Fuel capacity stands at 13,500 liters, supported by 3,000 liters of freshwater storage.
Swiss studio Valentin Design developed the exterior, while the broad catamaran platform provides 116.4 square meters of internal space and 124.1 square meters outside. The BC60 can be configured with four, five or six cabins and is offered with either an open or enclosed flybridge. Gross tonnage is 109.7GT with the open arrangement and 121.2GT in enclosed-flybridge form.
A Different Route Into Bering Ownership
The BC60 sits at the start of Bering's expedition catamaran range, beneath the larger BC70 and BC80. The first hull's May launch represented more than a new model introduction for the yard, bringing aluminum multihull construction into a portfolio better known for steel-hulled monohull explorers.
Development of the series is already moving beyond the first boat. Bering currently lists a second BC60 hull in build, suggesting the initial catamaran program is progressing while Hull No.1 begins accumulating real-world cruising mileage.
Busy 2026 Continues for Bering Yachts
The BC60's completed trials arrive during an active period at Bering's Antalya facility. In August, the first 33m Bering 110 reached the hull-turning stage, with the steel-and-aluminum crossover yacht scheduled for delivery in 2027. Bering also released detailed performance testing from the first 26m Bering 88 earlier this summer, with sea trials covering fuel consumption, engine loading, handling and range at different operating speeds. The yacht later joined the BC60 at Cannes.
More recently, the shipyard revealed the 40m Bering 130, its first so-called "Vector Yacht." The 399GT project has been developed with Valentin Design and Aberton Yachts and is set to be presented at the Monaco Yacht Show 2026, extending Bering's activity into a more motor-yacht-led interpretation of its long-range platform.
For the BC60, attention now turns from construction and formal testing to use. After returning from France to Turkey, Bering says the first hull will continue cruising the Mediterranean coastline, while further exterior, interior and underway footage is expected from the builder.
