Built within the Amels 80 range, the yacht features exterior design by Espen Øino, naval architecture developed in-house by Damen Yachting and confidential interior design. The Amels yacht features large-volume onboard living and modern technical engineering.
The third Amels 80 continues the evolution of Damen Yachting’s proven platform
The yacht represents the latest progression of the Amels Limited Editions concept, a build philosophy developed around pairing the efficiencies of a proven technical platform with the flexibility of customisation. The Amels 80 series introduces a more contemporary profile with elongated exterior lines, expansive glazing and carefully integrated outdoor spaces that reinforce the yacht’s connection to the sea. Measuring 80 metres with a 2,197 gross tonnage and a 12.5-metre beam, the platform has quickly become one of Damen Yachting’s most successful recent large yacht designs, with Project Zurich following two earlier Amels 80 deliveries, superyacht Pangea and superyacht Netto II.
A glass-bottomed pool and wellness-focused beach club define the exterior lifestyle experience
One of the standout features aboard the motor yacht is the striking 6.5-metre glass-bottomed swimming pool positioned on the main aft deck, bringing natural light into the beach club below while creating a strong visual centrepiece within the yacht’s exterior design. The expansive beach club itself has been developed as a dedicated wellness and relaxation zone, extending the connection between guests and the waterline. Large exterior lounge spaces across multiple deck levels provide flexible entertainment and dining areas, while the yacht’s broad aft terraces and integrated circulation routes support seamless indoor-outdoor living throughout the vessel.
Contemporary accommodation designed for comfort and extended cruising
While the boat's interior styling remains confidential, Project Zurich has been configured to accommodate up to 14 guests alongside a crew of 20 plus the captain. The Amels 80 platform has been developed around spacious guest circulation, large social areas and strong natural light penetration through extensive glazing throughout the superstructure. Interior layouts within the series are intended to support both private owner use and long-range guest cruising, balancing contemporary luxury with practical functionality across the yacht’s multiple deck levels.
Sea trials test performance, onboard systems and operational refinement
The commencement of sea trials marks one of the final and most important technical stages before delivery. During this process, Damen Yachting’s engineers and onboard teams will assess the yacht’s propulsion systems, comfort levels, manoeuvrability and operational reliability under real-world conditions. Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar engines, Project Zurich has a reported maximum speed of 16.5 knots, with the trials designed to fine-tune overall performance and onboard systems ahead of owner handover.
