Outer Reef 780 Adventure Expedition Yacht Nears Completion of Maiden Voyage

The first 24m Outer Reef 780 Adventure yacht is approaching the end of a 2,300-nautical-mile maiden voyage from the Netherlands to La Napoule, France.

Built at a Dutch yard and constructed with a steel hull, the fast displacement explorer yacht is expected to remain at the Outer Reef Yachts office in La Napoule ahead of its official showcase at the 2025 Cannes Yachting Festival in September.

Live Testing Confirms Long-Range Capability and Quiet Performance

The yacht departed the Netherlands after commissioning and has since cruised continuously, day and night, with no technical issues. According to Outer Reef Yachts, the voyage served as a live, full-scale shakedown. CEO Jeff Druek and Trevor De Faoite, Managing Director of Outer Reef Europe, joined the route from Gibraltar to Palma and onward to La Napoule. During the journey, systems such as fuel burn, acoustics, and seakeeping were rigorously monitored.

Real-world results confirmed a fuel burn of just 18.6 liters per hour (5 US gallons/hour) during eco-cruising, giving the expedition yacht a range of over 5,000 nautical miles. Noise levels were recorded well below average, contributing to a noticeably quiet onboard experience. Performance in head seas and open water was described as stable, with no slamming reported.

Interior Volume and Layout Optimized for Long-Term Cruising

Built with a beam of 6.75 meters, the Outer Reef 780 Adventure offers a high-volume layout that rivals larger yachts in the category. The superyacht accommodates up to eight guests in four staterooms, with additional quarters for a crew of four. Interior features include generous headroom, large-volume showers, and panoramic windows that maximize natural light throughout.

The layout is fully customizable, with options for a fifth stateroom and personalized décor. Interior configurations emphasize practical storage, long-term livability, and spacious communal areas suited to extended journeys at sea.

Designed for Global Cruising and Harsh Conditions

As the entry-level model in the Outer Reef Adventure Series, the 780 is built for extended, off-grid cruising in remote waters. The steel hull construction and fast displacement form of the motor yacht contribute to robust durability, safety, and fuel efficiency. Fin stabilizers and advanced sound insulation ensure onboard comfort in a wide range of sea states.

The Outer Reef 780 Adventure will be available for private viewing at La Napoule throughout the summer, ahead of its public debut at the 2025 CYF from September 24 to 27, 2025. The model remains in production and is offered with a range of customizable specifications.

Compact Explorer Option: Introducing the 540 Adventure

The newly revealed Outer Reef 540 Adventure brings the same long-range cruising ethos of the 780 Adventure to a more compact 17.2-meter (56-foot 5-inch) platform. Built in FRP and featuring a fast-displacement hull, the Outer Reef 540 Adventure is the entry-level model in the Adventure Series and is designed for extended passages in a more manageable format.

Outdoor areas include a shaded flybridge dining zone, a foredeck lounge, and a generous aft cockpit. Powered by Volvo Penta shaft drives and rated CE Category A, the 540 Adventure is engineered for offshore performance while remaining easy to handle. She targets experienced cruisers looking to downsize, first-time yacht owners, and those seeking capable adventure in a smaller format.

With the 780 Adventure completing its 2,300-nautical-mile maiden voyage and the 540 Adventure expanding the lineup, Outer Reef Yachts is positioning its Adventure Series as a go-to option for serious long-range cruising.
