Not only is she the largest yacht ever constructed by the Dutch shipyard by both length and gross tonnage, but she also ranks as the largest vessel confirmed for this year’s show.
Breaking Records Above and Below the Waterline
Ranked 29th in the YachtBuyer YB100 list of the world’s biggest yachts by gross tonnage, Breakthrough stands firmly as one of the most impressive yachts in the world with 7,247 GT. She is the largest yacht ever built by Feadship and the biggest confirmed attendee at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show. According to YachtBuyer Market Watch & Intelligence, the world’s largest yacht database, only Golden Odyssey (123m) and Kismet (122m) have attended the show at a greater length, placing Breakthrough, at 118.8 meters, as the third-longest yacht ever to appear at the MYS.

Feadship’s ambition with Breakthrough was clear: to deliver not only the largest yacht in its history but also one of the most progressive. Delivered in May 2025, she is the world’s first superyacht equipped with a hydrogen fuel cell system for hotel load, allowing for true zero-emission cruising in select conditions. The exterior and interior of the yacht for sale were designed by RWD, with naval architecture by De Voogt, and she was commissioned by an American owner seeking to push the limits of scale, sustainability, and onboard experience.
A Superstructure Designed for Sea-Level Living
Despite her scale, Breakthrough maintains a sleek silhouette, thanks to RWD’s carefully integrated lines and the shipyard’s advanced aluminum superstructure. Her hull features an unusually high number of cutouts: fourteen balconies and seven fold-down platforms create constant interaction with the water, from all decks.

Among her standout features is an 8.2-meter glass-floored infinity pool with contraflow system on the aft deck, paired with a movable base and adjacent hot tub. The pool sits above a full beach club and wellness center, connected via sweeping dual staircases. Forward, the sundeck doubles as a helipad and sports area, complete with a second hot tub and expansive shaded dining.
Breakthrough’s beam stretches 19 meters, granting her the scale for full-height spaces and sea-level amenities without compromising stability. The motor yacht for sale also includes a semi-submerged Nemo Lounge that brings guests below the waterline, offering a unique perspective on the marine environment.
Inside Breakthrough: Calm, Coastal, and Considered
Inside, Breakthrough presents a tactile, natural palette that blends light woods with marble, travertine, rattan, and soft leather. Materials like fumed eucalyptus and limed oak create an airy, coastal feel across all decks, while custom furnishings and built-ins provide both elegance and practicality.

The yacht is organized around a central atrium staircase that spirals around a glass elevator, lined with bookshelves and open to natural light. Floor-to-ceiling windows and clear glass balustrades enhance the views across all levels. Social spaces include a cinema, library, spa, and gym, along with more personal touches such as a coffee nook, games area, and private sea-view dining room.
Each deck introduces its own rhythm, with quiet corners for reflection and larger venues for entertaining, supporting the owner’s original vision of a “secluded four-level townhouse by the sea.”
Living Afloat: Designed for Family and Guests
Breakthrough accommodates up to 30 guests across 15 cabins. On the main deck, eight guest staterooms can be reconfigured into four VIP suites. The owner's quarters occupy an entire private deck and feature two bedrooms, dual bathrooms and dressing rooms, a full gym, a living room, and two studies complete with fireplaces. A forward-facing jacuzzi provides a quiet retreat for the owner, overlooking the ocean ahead.

The yacht also carries 44 crew across 25 cabins, with separate staff quarters and smart circulation routes to preserve privacy throughout.
A Hydrogen-Powered Step Forward
What truly sets Breakthrough apart is her propulsion and energy systems. She is the world’s first yacht to incorporate a hydrogen fuel cell system for onboard power. Capable of producing electricity with only water as a byproduct, the system feeds the hotel load, dramatically reducing emissions from systems like HVAC and lighting.

Hydrogen is stored in a cryogenic tank holding 92 cubic meters of liquid fuel, developed in partnership with Lloyd’s Register to meet new safety standards. In addition to hydrogen, the yacht can run on HVO (Hydro-treated Vegetable Oil) and methanol, giving her a flexible, low-emissions profile.
For propulsion, Breakthrough uses twin ABB Azipods powered by three 2,500kW and two 900kW MTU generators. She also includes sixteen 185kW hydrogen fuel cell modules. Her cruising speed is 14 knots, with a transoceanic range of 6,500 nautical miles and a top speed of 17 knots.
Feadship’s Most Advanced Yacht Yet
Breakthrough is not just Feadship’s largest project to date - she’s also the most technically advanced. As the highest-volume yacht ever built in the Netherlands, her place in the YachtBuyer YB100 and Top100 yachts by length globally reflects her impact. She enters the Monaco Yacht Show not only as the biggest yacht in attendance, but as a clear signal of where large-yacht design is heading.

Feadship has described the build as a milestone moment for the shipyard and the wider industry. From her pioneering energy systems to her reimagined guest experience, Breakthrough is a showcase of what’s possible at the intersection of scale, design, and sustainability.
At Monaco Yacht Show 2025, Breakthrough won’t just be the largest yacht on display - she’ll be the most forward-thinking.
Breakthrough is on the market with Edmiston & Company and has a price upon request.
